Music

Music has always been very close to me. I remember having an iPod Shuffle when I was as young as 4 years old. I remember getting money through birthdays and buying iTunes gift cards to load tracks and albums. Most of the music I had on there was Linkin Park, since I'd taken a liking to their music through playing Guitar Hero, which I was unusually good at for a young kid. Many years later, when I got Spotify, it opened my horizons to a slew of new bands and artists. I’d say that was when my love of music really took off as I got to experience all these new acts with no limitations.

Despite music always being a big part of my life, I didn't go to any concerts until I attended Float Fest in 2022. Despite the grueling Texas heat, it's an experience I think back on fondly, since it was something new and different that I hadn't experienced up until that point and I got to go with my brother. Since then, I've had the opportunity to go to some pretty cool shows, such as seeing The 1975 at the Moody Stadium, the Eagles at the Las Vegas Sphere, and Vampire Weekend during the 2024 solar eclipse. See some pictures I took below with a disposable camera I snuck in!

A few years back, I took up guitar. I started learning with cowboy chords and simple melodies through tablature, but I've recently tried to learn more theory so I can play my own music. Most of my family plays guitar, and growing up I never felt I had the ability or patience to learn it myself. But as I started learning songs and riffs I liked, it sparked an interest that still lives in me today. I have a few different guitars and a collection of pedals that keep things interesting for me and lets me experiment with different sounds and genres. They say once you learn to play an instrument, it sticks with you for the rest of your life. I don't know if I'll ever have the ability or desire to play in front of people, but that's not really the point for me. I just like having something I can sit down with and get lost in for a while.
